Mastering Life Planning with Wundertask: Time Buckets and Drag and Drop Features

Self-confidence is crucial for success in any area of life, yet it’s a challenging trait to attain. Impostor syndrome, self-doubt, and negative feedback from those around us are just some of the daily obstacles we face on the path to achieving our goals. As time passes, it’s easy to become overwhelmed with the multitude of tasks we need to complete, causing us to feel lost and unsure of how to proceed. This feeling can be so intense that we become stuck, as if our brain has hit an emergency brake and ceasing to act is the only way to cope.

Making changes can be challenging. Nonetheless, as I often mention, change is a prerequisite for change. Although it may sound like a clichéd expression, I believe it’s a witty way of reminding ourselves that unless we alter our approach, we’ll remain stuck in the same pattern.

You may be wondering what actions we should take to make a positive change. Perhaps you didn’t ask, but I’m bringing it up anyway. The answer will vary depending on each person’s unique circumstances, but in general, there are two things that can be done:

1. Begin by planning your life.
2. Focus on improving your life planning skills.

It’s evident that the first step is for those, like myself for many years, who simply go “with the flow.” Think of it in this manner: when something is extremely important to you (such as a final exam, a declaration of love, purchasing a home, or starting a business), do you ever contemplate simply going with the flow? Of course not. While some individuals are more impulsive than others, everyone devotes a certain amount of thought and planning to important matters. Then, when something unexpected occurs, they respond to it as best as possible, always keeping their ultimate objective in mind. So why don’t we do this with our own lives, which should be the most significant thing of all? The answer is that we shouldn’t. Unfortunately, many of us were not taught to think in this way, and it took me years of self-examination to realize that planning is the right thing to do. So, if you haven’t started yet, begin planning. The beauty of it all is that it’s your life, your plan, and you can do it at your own pace while adjusting it as necessary. At Wundertask, we embrace this philosophy and understand that various individuals require different planning approaches, so we strive to be as flexible as possible.

Planning is the initial step towards achieving our goals, no matter what they may be. However, we must plan realistically. We shouldn’t set our goals too low, or we’ll only receive modest returns. Yet, when attempting to aim for significant achievements, it’s easy to lose track of what’s possible, as our vision can become hazy when looking too far ahead. Therefore, as with everything else in life, planning requires balance. This is where Wundertask’s adaptability can be of tremendous assistance in enhancing our planning abilities. Let me elaborate by discussing two of my favourite features in the app, which I believe are relevant to the theme of this blog.

Wundertask offers an exclusive feature called “Time Buckets.” With Time Buckets, you can divide your day into “now,” “next,” “later,” and “evening” tasks. While this works well for most people, you can add an extra one if necessary. For example, I prefer having an extra bucket named “lunchtime” for small personal tasks or as a reminder to take a break and unwind. This simple yet innovative feature provides more structure to your day, allowing you to easily visualise the amount of work you plan to do in a given timeframe. It has helped me become more efficient, as I have become more purposeful with the tasks I choose to tackle now as opposed to later. Additionally, it has taught me to have an intuitive understanding of what is feasible and what is not.

Wundertask has also introduced a ‘drag and drop’ feature, so if your priorities unexpectedly change, you can easily drag a task and drop it into a different time bucket to rearrange your day. Additionally, you can ‘snooze’ tasks until the next day or week with just a swipe to the left. When these features are combined with the customisable time buckets, they have truly transformed my life. Before, I was one of those people who would forget everything unless I wrote it on my hand – and even then, since I wash my hands around 100 times a day, it wouldn’t last long. With Wundertask, I no longer forget tasks, as I can rearrange them whenever needed, which helps me to remember all of the important things.

These are the features that convinced me to embrace Wundertask and notice a difference in the way I organise my life (both professionally and personally), and as a result, the way things pan out, almost immediately. Wundertask has many other fascinating and pioneering features that I use on a daily basis, but these will have to wait for another blog post. If you are in the initial stages of planning, I hope this article will provide value to your life by encouraging you to consider beginning to plan. And if you already do, I hope it will inspire you to start planning more effectively. If you are going to do something… Do it well. Do it with Wundertask.
